emergency a week ago but since that time the number of cases globally has more than doubled so today county supervisors extended the emergency declaration for at least another 30 days kron four's dan kerman has the latest from san jose. >>by a unanimous vote santa clara county supervisors have extended a local health emergency due to the corona virus. county health officer doctor sara cody first made the seven-day declaration a week ago when there were 17,500 confirmed cases worldwide now that global number has more than doubled and continues to grow. in a report to the board cody says in part the virus is considered a serious public health threat because much is unknown. but she goes on to say the declaration and proclamation did not signify any particular increase in risk to the residents of santa clara county. but they do unable to county to more effectively respond to the outbreak c can utilize mutual aid potentially obtain

>>most health officials say this virus is actually less lethal than sars here in the bay area. we have a total of 4 cases to in santa clara county and 2 people from san benito county who are now being treated in san francisco santa clara extended its health mergency declaration today as for those 2 cases in santa clara county. the first is a man who recently traveled to wuhan and arrived back home through san jose's airport on january 24th. he is a resident of santa clara county. second case there is not related to the first since a woman who recently traveled to wuhan china and arrived back in the us january 23th to visit family. she is not a resident of the county both people have been isolated and have not let their homes except to seek medical attention. meanwhile travis air force base in airfield a group of american evacuees from china remains under quarantine the cdc ys 5 of those evacuees are showing symptoms of corona
